Dance in Three Dimensions
Wim Wenders wanted his documentary tribute to the legendary choreographer Pina Bausch to be unlike any other dance movie ever made. He accomplished this by shooting it in 3D, resulting in a vivid, sometimes startling sensory experience. In this illuminating clip from The Making of “Pina,” available in its entirety on our special editions of the film, see behind-the-scenes footage of the filming of the Rite of Spring sequence, and learn more about the techniques—including the use of two simultaneous cameras and a semitransparent mirror—that Wenders and his crew, including director of stereography Alain Derobe, employed in the shooting of Pina, available on Criterion Blu-ray 3D, Blu-ray, and DVD.
